About

Understanding the brain changed everything.

Carrie Rae is a speech-language pathologist, educator, and the founder of The Overloaded Brain™. Her work sits at the intersection of neuroscience, cognitive performance, and practical life skills.

The Journey

It started with a question no one could answer.

After years of working clinically with individuals experiencing cognitive challenges — from traumatic brain injury and stroke to ADHD and chronic illness — Carrie Rae kept encountering the same pattern. People were working incredibly hard. They were following the advice. They were doing everything right. And yet they were still struggling.

The missing piece wasn't effort. It was understanding. Most people had never been given a framework for thinking about their own cognitive capacity — where it comes from, what depletes it, and how to protect it.

Her own journey deepened this understanding. Navigating chronic illness, building a business, and caring for others simultaneously, she experienced firsthand what happens when brain energy runs out. The fog. The frustration. The feeling of falling behind despite trying harder than ever.

That experience — combined with her clinical background in speech-language pathology and years of work in cognitive rehabilitation — became the foundation for The Overloaded Brain™.
